Modern Slavery Statement
Man with Van Hampstead Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Man with Van Hampstead to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. As a provider of removal and transport services, we recognise our responsibility to respect and uphold human rights, and to ensure that our activities do not contribute to the exploitation of individuals in any form.
Man with Van Hampstead operates with a clear commitment to fairness, transparency and integrity. We seek to work only with individuals and organisations that share our values and support our efforts to identify, prevent and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We adopt a strict zero-tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, including forced labour, debt bondage, servitude and human trafficking. This applies to our own operations, temporary and permanent staff, subcontractors, and every part of our supply chain. We do not knowingly engage with any party that practices or condones exploitation, and we reserve the right to terminate relationships with any supplier or contractor found to be involved in such practices.
Our zero-tolerance policy is communicated internally and externally. All managers and those responsible for procurement, recruitment and subcontracting are expected to implement this policy in their decision-making. Any indication that modern slavery may be taking place is treated as a serious breach of our standards and is escalated for immediate investigation.
Supplier Standards and Audits
Our services rely on a network of suppliers and subcontractors, including vehicle hire providers, equipment suppliers and occasional labour providers. We are committed to working only with suppliers who uphold lawful and ethical employment practices. To support this commitment, we require that our suppliers confirm compliance with all relevant labour, employment and human rights legislation.
Man with Van Hampstead carries out proportionate checks on new suppliers and periodically reviews existing relationships. This may include requesting documentation on employment practices, verifying identification procedures, and confirming that workers are employed freely, paid lawfully and treated with dignity and respect. Where appropriate, we conduct audits or site visits to assess compliance with our expectations and to identify any indicators of modern slavery risk.
If an audit or review highlights concerns about labour practices, we will work with the supplier to agree a corrective action plan and monitor its implementation. Where issues are not resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner, we may suspend or terminate the relationship.
Reporting Channels and Raising Concerns
Man with Van Hampstead encourages anyone connected with our business, including employees, subcontractors, suppliers and customers, to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or human trafficking without fear of retaliation. We recognise that people may become aware of issues through day-to-day operations, on customer sites, or in connection with third-party labour.
Concerns can be raised directly with line managers or senior management within the business. Reports can be made verbally or in writing, and may be submitted anonymously if the reporter prefers. All reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively and investigated promptly. Where appropriate, we will liaise with relevant authorities and specialist organisations to ensure that concerns are addressed effectively and that any affected individuals receive appropriate support.
We do not tolerate victimisation or discrimination against anyone who raises a concern in good faith. Any employee or contractor found to have retaliated against a whistleblower will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include termination of employment or contract.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
We recognise that tackling modern slavery requires ongoing vigilance and awareness. Man with Van Hampstead provides information and guidance to relevant staff so they understand what modern slavery is, how to identify warning signs, and how to report concerns. Particular emphasis is placed on those involved in recruitment, procurement and the management of subcontractors.
We regularly review our processes to improve our ability to detect and prevent exploitation. This includes considering feedback from staff, lessons learned from any incidents or near misses, and developments in legal or industry standards related to modern slavery and human rights.
Annual Review and Statement Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every year to ensure that it remains accurate, effective and aligned with best practice. During the review, we assess the effectiveness of our actions, evaluate any incidents or reports, and identify opportunities for further improvement in our controls and training.
The updated statement is then approved by the leadership of Man with Van Hampstead and made available to our stakeholders. By maintaining an annual review cycle, we aim to ensure that our approach to modern slavery remains robust, transparent and responsive to changing risks within our operations and supply chains.
